Step-by-Step Guide to Using Motiontill LiveView
Works Across Multiple Adobe Apps
Whether you’re using After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, or Photoshop, the extension functions the same in each app, so you can follow this guide for any of them!
Install the Motiontill LiveView Extension
First, install the Motiontill LiveView extension by following the instructions in our “How to Install ZXP Files” guide.
Access the Extension in Your Adobe App
After installation, open your Adobe application (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, or Photoshop). Go to Window > Extensions > Motiontill LiveView and run it.
Adjust the Panel
The extension is dockable, meaning you can resize and position it wherever you prefer in your workspace.
Add and Import Items with Motiontill LiveView:
- Add Items Using the “+” Button
In Motiontill LiveView, you’ll find a “+” button for adding items. Click on it to import supported files into your project. - Right-Click for More Options
Alternatively, right-click within the extension to open the context menu. From here, you can add folders or import items directly into your workspace. - Seamless Importing for After Effects & Premiere Pro and Ps + Ai
Motiontill LiveView makes it simple to manage your assets by importing a variety of file types. Whether you’re using Premiere Pro or After Effects, all your essential items will be easy to access and organize in one place.
Supported Importable Files for Premiere Pro:
- Image Files: PNG, JPG
- Video Files: MP4, MOV
- Project Files: PRPROJ
- Templates: MOGRT
- Scripts: JSX, JSXBIN
Supported Importable Files for After Effects:
- Image Files: PNG, JPG
- Video Files: MP4, MOV
- Project Files: AET, AEP
- Presets: FFX
- Scripts: JSX, JSXBIN
(You can import multiple items by selecting all of them)
How to Organize and Preview Your Assets in Motiontill LiveView: Step-by-Step
- Import Your Items
After importing your items into Motiontill LiveView, it’s time to organize and preview them for easier access and management. - Rename Your Items
- Right-click on any item in the extension.
- Select “Rename” from the context menu.
- Set a new name for your file. This will help you easily find it later when searching within the extension.
3. Set Picture and Video Previews
- Right-click on an item and select “Set Picture” or “Set Video” from the menu.
- Choose a picture file in formats like PNG, JPG, or SVG for the image preview.
- For video previews, select a MP4 file.
Recommended Preview Size for Best Performance
- The recommended size for picture previews is 16:9 aspect ratio with dimensions of 255 x 144 pixels.
- Using larger previews, such as Full HD or 4K, can cause the extension to experience lag, depending on your system’s CPU and RAM.
For smooth performance, it’s best to stick to the recommended size to avoid slowing down your workflow.
Important Note:
Setting a picture or video preview does not change the file location. However, if you rename or move the preview files or the item files after setting them, the extension will no longer be able to locate them, and the previews or items will not function correctly.( If you want move and save all images, videos and files you can export your folder and import it again to have fresh package.)
Items in Motiontill Liveview
Each item in the LiveView panel is marked with an icon indicating its type, along with three key features:
- Star Icon (⭐): Bookmark your favorite items for quick access in the bookmarks section. This helps you quickly find and use frequently accessed items by simply clicking on the star icon and navigating to the bookmarks tab.
- Type Icon: This icon shows the type of item in the extension, whether it’s a project file, image, video, or script, making it easy to identify your assets at a glance.
- Info Icon (“i”): Add detailed information to your items, such as HTML text, links, and extra descriptions. This feature is useful for providing additional context or instructions about specific assets.
Setting Item Info
After Hitting “i” icon you will see this screen :
By clicking on “Edit,” you can easily add detailed information to your items:
You can type your document or description directly in the editor, and the information will be saved as part of the item’s details. This allows you to provide essential links, instructions, or any additional information that enhances the usefulness of your asset.
To include a link, use the following format:<a href="Your Link">Link Name</a>
Backup your databse in motiontill liveview
All the information will be saved in the database located at :
Documents\Motiontill Liveview\AEFT.js
Be careful when accessing this file—do not delete it! You can also back up your database from this location to avoid losing any important data.
Exporting and Moving Items in Motiontill LiveView
- Organizing Items:
- You can easily move items by cutting and pasting them into the folders you want.
- Alternatively, drag and drop items into folders for quick organization.
- Preparing a Package:
- To create a package, ensure that you have at least one folder in the root directory (Home) of Motiontill LiveView.
- Move all your folders and items inside this main folder.
- Optionally, you can set pictures and videos for your items and include detailed item info, but this is not required.
- Exporting the Package:
- Right-click the parent folder located in the root (Home) and select “Export” to package your items. This will collect all items and assets within the folder, ready for distribution.
Adding Package Details and Exporting
- Customizing Package Info:
- When you’re ready to export, right-click on the parent folder and select “Export”.
- In the export window, you can add:
- Package Icon: Set an image to represent your package.
- Author Name: Enter your name or profile name.
- Link Address: Add a link, such as “https://yourlink.com/profile”, which will be displayed in all items’ info sections.
- Finalizing the Export:
- After filling out the details, hit the “Export Files” button to complete the process. All the information will be applied across the package and visible in the item’s info section.

Collecting Projects for Export (After Effects & Premiere Pro)
- Project Collection:
- When exporting After Effects (AEP | aet) or Premiere Pro (.PRPROJ) project packs, it’s important to collect all the project assets or .
- Use the “Collect Files” option in After Effects or Premiere Pro to gather all your project dependencies into a Footages folder
- in premiere Pro “File > Project manager… >Collect Files and copy in new location > OK “
- in Aftereffects “File > Dependencies>collectFiles”
Premiere pro
- Copying Footage:
- Once the assets are collected, move the Footages folder into the “Live View Friendly\Assets\(Footage)” folder within your package.
- Avoid Missing File Errors:
- By ensuring that all dependencies are in the correct folder, when your audience imports an AEP or PRPROJ file, they won’t encounter missing file alerts. This keeps your project files fully functional.
